Conference: IDIO 2024
Date: August 28, 2024
Presenters: Kathleen Hebbeler, Jennifer Tschantz, and Silvana Esposito Hackett

Data can be a critical lever to understand where inequities exist, monitor progress, and drive policies and practices to move the field forward. This presentation highlighted two data frameworks that can support states in addressing equity: DaSy’s Data Systems Framework and Child Trends’ System Transformation for Equitable Preschools (STEP Forward with Data) Framework. An overview of each tool was provided including the purpose and use. The DaSy Framework is designed to assist Part C and Part B 619 programs in developing high-quality state data systems for the collection, analysis, reporting, and use of their IDEA data including using data to examine equity. The STEP Forward with Data Framework is designed to help leaders use data to promote greater equity at every step of the preschool system. In using this Framework, leaders will better understand the experiences of children, families, or workforce members to begin identifying potential inequities.
