This workshop examined the DMS process OSEP uses to monitor states’ IDEA general supervision system, focusing on compliance and improving outcomes for children with disabilities and their families. Analyzing and improving the overall IDEA system components are critical to ensuring a state’s system is of high quality, equitable, and effective as well as to prepare for DMS. A large part of that preparation is gathering and analyzing data; reviewing policies, processes, and procedures; and presenting evidence of how the state, subgrantees, and contractors are ensuring everyone meets the requirements of IDEA. During large- and small-group discussions, participants developed a draft gap analysis of one of the four DMS topical areas: Data, Monitoring, Dispute Resolution, and Fiscal Management.
