Workshop 2: Creating Advanced Visualizations Using Looker Studio

Are you looking for better ways to share your publicly-reported data with stakeholders? Do you wish you had access to an easy-to-use tool to help you create engaging data displays? Come learn about Looker Studio! Looker Studio is a powerful free online tool that lets you quickly and easily display data in a variety of ways. This two-part workshop series will demonstrate the many uses of the tool that are applicable to Part C and Part B 619 public reporting requirements.

Preparation will be required prior to each workshop. Registered participants will receive instructions via email. We understand that some state lead agencies restrict use of Google products; however, we encourage states who are interested to attend the workshops to learn more about the tool and its uses.

Space is limited, so register now to save your spot! A maximum of 2 participants per program (Part C or Part B 619) and 4 per state will be accepted.

Workshop 1: Introduction to Looker Studio
Thursday, November 10 from 3:00-4:00 PM ET / 12:00-1:00 PT

Session 1 will provide an overview of Looker Studio for Part C and Part B 619 staff who are interested in using the tool to visualize data in meaningful ways. During this workshop, participants will learn:

  • The basics about the tool’s capabilities and features;
  • How to navigate the tool (e.g., homepage, data sources, reports); and
  • How to connect applicable Part C and Part B 619 data and create simple templates to publish reports with visualizations.

Intended audience:
Part C and Part B 619 Coordinators, Data Managers, other data staff

Workshop 2: Creating Advanced Visualizations Using Looker Studio
Thursday, December 8 from 3:00-4:00 PM ET / 12:00-1:00 PT

Session 2 will dig deeper into more advanced features and functionality of Looker Studio. During this workshop, participants will learn how to

  • Configure report controls;
  • Add more advanced visualizations to reports; and
  • Combine report templates to create dashboards that can be used to ongoingly update publicly-reported data.
  • Intended audience:
    Part C and Part B 619 Coordinators, Data Managers, and other data staff who participated in the first workshop or have basic knowledge of Looker Studio from their own work with the tool/other training.
