Under the IDEA, states are required to provide a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE) as determined individually for each eligible preschool-aged child. They are also required to collect and report data on state performance. This session highlighted an overview of the national data for preschool environments, a discussion of what the data reveal, limitations of the data collected, and trends over time. The session featured discussion, state sharing, and activities for collecting and using high-quality data at state and local levels to evaluate and increase access to equitable and inclusive opportunities for preschool children.
