Getting Ready for DMS Monitoring: How to Use the DMS Part B/C Data Protocol and Part C Data Processes Toolkit Crosswalk

“Crosswalk

Authors: Linh Le and Terry Long

DaSy’s DMS Part B/C Data Protocol and Part C Data Processes Toolkit Crosswalk between the DaSy Part C Data Processes Toolkit and OSEP’s DMS Data Protocol will help states identify possible gaps in documentation required for OSEP’s differentiated monitoring and support process.

The DMS Crosswalk or Differentiated Monitoring and Support (DMS) Part B/C Data Protocol and Part C Data Processes Toolkit Crosswalk helps states ensure they have a comprehensive repository of the Part C data-related documentation required by OSEP during the state’s DMS 2.0 discovery phase. The DMS Crosswalk is designed to provide an overview of the major themes covered in OSEP’s Differentiated Monitoring and Support (DMS) Part B/C Data Protocol and where those themes could be addressed when a state chooses to use the DaSy Part C Data Processes Toolkit.

While this Crosswalk provides information to assist states in reviewing their own processes using the Data Process Toolkit to address the DMS Data Protocol themes, this Crosswalk is not meant to be all inclusive. Thus, it is highly recommended states examine other areas within the Data Processes Toolkit as well as their own documentation to ensure the DMS Data Protocol is fully addressed.

By incorporating the DMS Crosswalk and the Data Processes Toolkit into DMS preparation, states gain a structured and efficient approach that not only streamlines their documentation but also enhances overall efficiency and thoroughness. This combination of resources enables states to navigate the complexities of OSEP’s DMS process with confidence, leading to improved compliance and more effective special education programs.
