Maps Accessibility Tips
All images, including maps, should have alt text (alternative text) that describes the nature or content of the image. If the map is supporting surrounding text, or if it has a detailed caption, describe general patterns in the map and distinct features in the alt text. The Diagram Center’s Image Description Guidelines offer additional tips on what to include in alt text for maps. See our accessibility tips that apply to interactive maps on the Interactive Displays page.
