In this episode of DaSy Talks, hosts Howard Morrison and Jenna Nguyen sit down with Michelle Ogorek and Sandy Miller to explore how Wisconsin is strengthening child outcomes data quality through the Child Outcome Summary Knowledge Check, or COS-KC.
The Child Outcomes Summary Form is a mechanism to document rating decisions and provide evidence that supports the rating from multiple sources.
Since the implementation of SSIP, DaSy and ECTA have tailored TA to meet the specific needs of each state. At a minimum, this involved TA specialists reviewing and providing input on states’ yearly SSIP documentation before submission to OSEP.
National estimates were determined by weighting and combining data from states that met criteria for high-quality data. Weighting allows states that serve larger numbers of children to exert more influence on the national estimates.
In this IDIO 2024 presentation, DaSy/ECTA staff cover the basics for child outcomes measurement and reporting, including an overview of how they were developed, what the outcomes are, how the indicators are calculated, what approaches to measurement states use, what the national results look like, how to consider child outcomes data quality, and where to access additional resources.
