Significant Disproportionality: Why This Topic is Important to All of Us

February 8, 2017 @ 4:30 pm - 6:30 pm EST

Department of Education

The OSEP Symposium on Significant Disproportionality will explore why this is an important topic for all of us as we work to ensure that children with disabilities, regardless of race or ethnicity, are provided educational services and accommodations that prepare them for post-school education and career opportunities. Presentations will highlight the key topics from a national perspective, frame the importance of this issue, and provide examples of practices and strategies that help address significant disproportionality. In addition to the live event, resources related to significant disproportionality will be posted for participants to use both in preparation for the event and to improve services and conditions for children with disabilities in States, districts, schools, and programs.
