How Alaska Connected Child Welfare Data to Automate Referrals of Maltreated Children
October 22, 2015 @ 7:30 pm - 8:30 pm EDT
Join DaSy staff and staff from Alaska’s Child Welfare and Early Intervention offices for a one-hour webinar describing Alaska’s process of linking data between Child Welfare and Part C.
The 2003 Keeping Children and Families Safe Act, which reauthorized the Child Abuse and Prevention Treatment Act (CAPTA), and Part C of the 2004 Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) both require state Child Welfare and Part C lead agencies to develop and implement referral policies and procedures for infants and toddlers under age 3 with substantiated cases of maltreatment to state Part C Early Intervention programs. This webinar describes how Alaska addressed that need through automated transfer of data from Child Welfare to Part C for substantiated cases of maltreatment to improve referral of children from Child Welfare to the IDEA Part C Program. This process was also described in our February 2015 State Spotlight, Alaska: Improving Referrals of Victims of Maltreatment to the IDEA Part C Program.
