SUMMARY:State-Researcher Partnerships to Improve Equity in EI/ECSE
DESCRIPTION:Learn about the ongoing collaboration between the Oregon Department of Education and researchers at University of Oregon and Oregon Health and Sciences University\, using state-level data systems to characterize variability in access to EI/ECSE in early intervention (Part C) and early childhood special education (Part B).\nPresenters will share the findings of two studies which used Oregon’s EI/ECSE electronic records system to examine differences in referrals\, evaluation\, and eligibility placement by children’s ethnicity and home language background.\nPresenters will also share how this collaboration may result in solutions aimed at enhancing equity in Oregon’s EI/ECSE systems.\nLearn a process for establishing state-researcher partnerships to examine state-level trends regarding service provision to diverse children in your states and develop policy recommendations that reduce such concerns.\n  \nState-Researcher Partnerships to Improve Equity in EI/ECSE\nNovember 19\, 2020\n2-3 pm ET

SUMMARY:Digging Deeper into Inclusion in Colorado: National Implications for the Utility of Indicator Six and Quality Improvement
DESCRIPTION:While Colorado as a state has the highest Indicator 6 data in the country\, the Preschool Team at the Colorado Department of Education sought to more deeply understand the quality of inclusive practices being implemented in publicly funded preschool classrooms across the state. This webinar will describe a study that was conducted to gather information from special educators and related service providers on how inclusive practices are implemented in programs and inform barriers to inclusion at the local policy and procedural level. Results of this study will be shared along with next steps the state will take to move forward to improve the dosage and quality of inclusive practices delivered to children.\nDigging Deeper into Inclusion in Colorado: National Implications for the Utility of Indicator Six and Quality Improvement\nDecember 4\, 2020 2-3 pm ET

SUMMARY:Identification and Referral of Children with Deaf-Blindness
DESCRIPTION:The identification and referral of infants and toddlers who are deaf-blind requires coordination and collaboration at state and national levels. A key responsibility of the National Center on Deaf-Blindness (NCDB) and state deaf-blind projects (SDBPs) is to work with national and state partners and systems to identify and refer children who are deaf-blind as early as possible in order to link families to appropriate services\, resources\, and support. \nIn this webinar\, ECTA\, ITCA and DaSy will join with NCDB to provide an overview of the Deaf-Blind TA Network and the unique opportunities that exist for inter-agency collaboration through training and technical assistance. In concert with NCDB\, state deaf-blind projects provide technical assistance to help ensure that family members\, early intervention providers\, special and general education teachers\, and related services personnel have access to the specialized training and tools needed to address the early intervention\, educational and related services needs of children who are deaf-blind. \nPart C Coordinators are invited to share the registration link with other Part C staff for them to register for this event. Live captions will be avaialable.
